How to Reinstall Apple Root Certificates on iPad

If you're experiencing SSL errors reinstalling Apple's root certificates may fix the issue.

1. Download the Apple Root Certificate

  1. Open Safari on your iPad.

  2. Go to Apple PKI.

  3. Find and download the Apple Root CA - G3 certificate (or the latest available Apple Root CA).

  4. If the certificate doesn’t install automatically, continue to the next steps.

2. Manually Install the Certificate

  1. Open the Files app and go to the Downloads folder.

  2. Locate the certificate file (e.g., AppleRootCA-G3.cer).

  3. Tap on it to open, and if prompted, select Install.

  4. If no prompt appears, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and check if the certificate is listed under "Downloaded Profile."

  5. If it’s there, tap Install and confirm.

3. Trust the Certificate

  1. Go to Settings > General > About > Certificate Trust Settings.

  2. Find the newly installed Apple Root CA and toggle it to Trusted.

  3. Restart your iPad to apply the changes.
